Streak-free glass, without the chemicals
Why your windows haze over no matter what you spray — and the two-tool method that actually leaves glass clear for weeks.
If you’ve ever sprayed glass cleaner, wiped it down, and watched a haze bloom across the surface as it dried — you’re not doing it wrong. You’re just using the wrong tools for how glass actually behaves.
Why glass streaks
Glass streaks for three reasons, and none of them are about the spray:
- Too much product. Liquid pools at the bottom of the pane and dries into a mineral line.
- The wrong cloth. Cotton and paper towels leave lint and shed fibers into the wet film.
- Evaporation timing. Spray-and-wipe gives the product no time to lift oils before it’s smeared across the surface.
The fix isn’t a better spray. It’s a two-tool method.
The two-tool method
- Damp-wipe the glass with the damp microfiber to lift loose dust and oils. Just water. This is the step everyone skips.
- Squeegee top-to-bottom, overlapping each stroke by about 1 cm. Wipe the blade with the damp cloth between strokes — a wet blade leaves lines.
- Finish the edges with the dry microfiber, tracing the frame and catching any water that pooled at the bottom.
That’s it. Clear glass, no haze, no chemical smell, no film to attract dust back to the surface.
When you do want a product
For kitchens and bathrooms where there’s grease or hard-water buildup, swap the plain water for a 1:4 white-vinegar-to-water mix in a spray bottle. Spray the cloth, not the glass — same rule as above, you want minimal liquid on the pane.
The thing nobody tells you
Glass looks its worst on bright sunny days because the light raking across the surface shows every imperfection. Clean your windows on an overcast day or in the early morning and you’ll catch streaks before they dry, not after.
